Eligibility: +2 pass from Academic / Vocational stream or its equivalent recognized by Madras University

Biochemistry is the branch of science that deals with the reactions occurring inside the system. It gives an understanding of the molecules, molecular reactions and functions. It can be thought of as combination of life sciences and with special focus on clinical sciences. Biochemistry is the branch of science that deals with the structure, composition and reactions of Biomolecules occurring inside the living system.

Biochemistry includes the sciences of

• Biotechnology, Molecular biology, Physiology, Immunology, Bioorganic and biophysical chemistry.

Biochemistry spills over into pharmacology, physiology, microbiology, and clinical chemistry. In these areas, a biochemist may investigate the following;

• The mechanism of a drug action;
• Engage in viral research;
• Conduct research pertaining to organ function;

Use chemical concepts, procedures, and techniques to study the diagnosis and therapy of disease and the assessment of health.
